Hey everyone! My name is Megan Andersen and I am your friendly neighborhood bookkeeper. I have purple hair, tattoos and over 15 years of experience in office administration, management and bookkeeping.
I grew up in an entrepreneurial household – small business is what I know and love. I’ll happily nerd out over cash flow forecasts and budgets for hours (much to my partner’s consternation).
I have a certificate in bookkeeping from Okanagan College and have started working towards my Payroll Compliance Practitioner certificate to expand my knowledge and understanding of the intricacies of payroll in Canada (trust me, it’s a doozy).
I opened Rogue Bookkeeping (RBK) with the goal of working with entrepreneurs and the tenets of open communication, transparency and non-judgment. I’d say my timing was unfortunate as I started RBK in January 2020, right before Covid hit and locked everything down but, despite that, RBK has grown at an astounding rate. By October 2020 I was so busy I had to start subcontracting out work, and on March 1st 2021 I hired my first employee.
My goal is to continue to grow RBK without ever losing sight of my original company values.
Who knew the girl who used a whole roll of film taking pictures of headstones (age 7) and wrote a really bad poem about memories (age 9) would end up being a photographer and copywriter?
Let that be your inspiration. If I can do it, then really, ANYONE CAN.
I’ve always been creative, but it took a 20-year career as a paramedic for me to work out what I really hated doing and a move halfway across the world to finally do the thing I really wanted to do. I’m nothing if a little slow to figure things out 😉 I ran a successful wedding and portrait photography business for almost 8 years alongside my ambulance service life. And Sarah Wayte Creative has been my full time obsession since 2019.
English-born with proudly Maltese heritage, I’m an introvert with a fiery, passionate heart (and a tendency to wave my arms around while speaking). Yes, I do say ‘arse’ and yes, I’ll pronounce words in ways that’ll make you giggle. *shrug*
I’m a cat-Mum to two and wife to a fella who goes with all my madcap ideas. And I’m all about helping you to express your real, honest self through your words and your photos.
Hi, I’m Trina. I’m a marketing strategist and consultant dedicated to helping small businesses maximize their marketing investments by focusing on what matters most to them. For the last 11 years, I’ve been creating highly effective and profitable marketing campaigns for several local and international brands – all from home in my pj’s (seriously – I hate getting dressed).
Over the years, I’ve also helped hundreds of small business owners consistently increase their revenue while also freeing up their time by implementing strategies that work and align with their values, because I firmly believe that marketing doesn’t have to feel gross to be effective.
As an 11-year industry veteran, I’ve seen a LOT. Nothing bugs me more than seeing businesses use marketing tactics that aren’t right for them simply because some “influencer” told them that’s what all the cool kids are doing. Trends come and go. I’d rather focus on what has continued to work, regardless of the changing tides.
I’m a total marketing geek, frequently getting lost in internet rabbit-holes trying to learn everything I can about a subject. This means I’m constantly improving my skillset and knowledge, watching market trends and analyzing strategies to find commonalities so that I can present something that’ll work for my clients. It also means I sometimes get lost in the data and forget to come up for air.
I’m all about showing you real-world results, not hypotheticals. I think that honesty does have a place in marketing; but it also means that if I think your strategy sucks, I’ll tell you without hesitation – and then present you with a best-for-you strategy that will work way better.
It’s funny how, when you’re in school, you pay attention to things like English, Math and Science because of all the jobs it’ll help you with in future. But now I’m here doing life as a Creative VA, and I kinda wish someone had told me that all that work I did in art class with paint, glitter, paper and glue would actually be the way to make a living. I mean, that’s basically my jam!
I didn’t always know a career that would allow total flexibility would suit me. Working from my laptop in various coffee shops and gorgeous locations around the world was exactly what I never knew I wanted. It just took me a while to figure that out, by which time I’d been working as an Admin Assistant for around 15 years.
So, using my administrative strengths, as well as my love for all things paper and glue and the ability to translate creative ideas into graphic designs, I moved into the world of Virtual Assisting, and, well, I haven’t looked back!
Now, I get to work with so many awesome business owners in different industries and niches. I love that they can give me a vague idea of what they want, and I can pull it all together into stunning, professional graphics and marketing material that totally exceeds their expectations.
Vesper is the official mascot of the Go Launch Yourself team.
Their varied interests made them an instant hit with the rest of the team, and it didn’t take long for them to vote Vesper in as their mascot.
Vesper’s name is Latin for ‘evening star’. We think that’s just perfect for the Go Launch Yourself mascot, as they’re here to guide the way to business greatness!
